Art or Fashion.. Part 2

I thought I’d share with you some more Art inspired fashion.

One of the trends for this summer is “White Wedding” with “experts” claiming that the 2012 Olympics, Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the European Cup will act as a cultural aphrodisiacs, resulting in more marriages and births. With different designers taking the trend in different directions we have a selection of tomboy tailored separates from Paul Smith and Givenchy, Louis Vuitton took us back to the swinging 60’s and Rei Kawakubo at Comme des Garcon took us to the cake shop……. yes you read that right, the Cake Shop. With a series of multi-tiered dresses that resemble giant wedding cakes, teamed with frothy shoulder capes and sculptural headwear this  real is extreme Bridal wear.

The modern 4 tier wedding cake.
The traditional 3 tier wedding cake
The simple understated cake
The designer cake
The art deco cake
The chocolate profiterole topped cake
The caped crusader cake
The chocolate and vanilla cake
The highly decorative Dollie inspired cake
The princess cake
The diet cake
The Ghost Buster cake
The Veil cake

Now these ensembles are probably not what most brides will be thinking about when they are choosing their wedding dresses, and I can’t really see them working down your local high street either. They are how ever a great accolade to Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garcon who really let their imaginations run wild! With collections like these I always love looking at them and trying to find out the inspiration and thoughts behind them. Which makes me think that the fine line between art and fashion is becoming thinner and thinner.

Graffiti Hotel!?!

J’adore J’adore J’adore ! This room by graffiti artist Tilt for the Au Vieux Panier Hotel in France, a luxury hotel who asked 6 different artist to create a room, Tilt’s room is by far our favorite. We love the colours and how he has left half of the room white, almost like dead space. The finishing touch for us is how everything, including half of the bed, windows, curtains and chair have been covered in graffiti. Very cool….. Tilt do you want to graffiti my room????=D

Ashish A/W 2012

Graphics, prints, sequins, metallic and everything in between. I’m not sure if I like the collection or if i am just overwhelmed by looking at it….
Aminaka Wilmot A/W 2012

A space inspired collection, The strong silhouettes really bind the collection together.
Dion Lee A/W 2012

Beautiful attention to detail, love the cut out panels! Absolutely love this collection.
Mary Katrantzou A/W 2012

Over the top “frilly” outfits from Mary K this season. A stray away from the heavily structured pieces we are use to seeing. Beautiful colours!

Nasir Mazhar

Some beautiful accessory designs by Nasir Mazhar. With cool, original designs, that focus on attention to detail, we love the new collection for A/W 2012.

Above are our favorite, beautifully feminine with pastel tones and shades of white finished off with bright embroidered detail, soooo nice!

This is so pretty! We love the neck piece, it’s on our wish list!

Day 3!

You know the roll…. Here are our favs from day 3! We have soooooo much choice to look forward to!
Acne A/W 2012

Bright neons mixed with pastel shades and leather! How could you not love it!?

Margret Howell A/W 12

Cute pleated skirts in muted tones, straight leg trousers and cropped knitted jumpers, were thinking wardrobe staples!

Louise Gray A/W 2012

Clashing prints bright colours and wacky over the top hair and earings… not for the wall flowers of us but take elements and mix with jeans, pleated skirts or leggings and you have a great diverse and fun wardrobe!

Mulberry A/W 2012

Ah the English sweethearts Mulberry. Were not surprised to see beautiful prints, silhouettes and fabrics waltzing down the runway. We are loving the movement in the fabrics and the bright Orange tones used to warm up, an otherwise, dark palette. Hands down one of the best collections yet in our eyes. The Dog’s on the catwalk might have clinched it;)
Nichole Farhi A/W 2012

An elegant collection. Loving the black dress with the black and yellow sequins!

Thomas Tait A/W 2012

Cool oversized coats to keep us warm in Winter in a very wearable and flattering shades, brightened up with Yellow Leather trousers! Nice twist, looking forward to seeing more from Mr Tait!

Day 1 at London Fashion Week Our Favs

Bora Aksu A/W 2012

Full of beautiful pastel, pink and orange tones which create a bold and beautiful winter collection, our favourite collection shown yesterday. Inspiration for the prints are clearly taken from lace paired with Victorian detailing, carried on from his Spring Summer 2012 collection, you have a beautiful, feminine and sexy collection. Black tights have never looked so good!

Basso and Brooke A/W 2012

Basso & Brooke’s clashing collection mainly featured trousers and and oversized jackets, there were no shortage of prints with the colour pallet straying from monochrome to include pastel tones and bright fire orange.

Fyodor Golan A/W 2012

Bright reds which liven up a monochrome pallet. To us the best thing about this collection is that its daring, different and very stunning. We LOVE the White coat on the left and the beautiful detailing on the all of the dresses, which again have a Victorian feel to them, with high necklines and lace inspired detailing.

Nice

Half of the fun of reading fashion mags is looking at the beautiful adverts, here are a few of our favs.
