Art or Fashion.. Part 2

I thought I’d share with you some more Art inspired fashion.

One of the trends for this summer is “White Wedding” with “experts” claiming that the 2012 Olympics, Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the European Cup will act as a cultural aphrodisiacs, resulting in more marriages and births. With different designers taking the trend in different directions we have a selection of tomboy tailored separates from Paul Smith and Givenchy, Louis Vuitton took us back to the swinging 60’s and Rei Kawakubo at Comme des Garcon took us to the cake shop……. yes you read that right, the Cake Shop. With a series of multi-tiered dresses that resemble giant wedding cakes, teamed with frothy shoulder capes and sculptural headwear this  real is extreme Bridal wear.

The modern 4 tier wedding cake.
The traditional 3 tier wedding cake
The simple understated cake
The designer cake
The art deco cake
The chocolate profiterole topped cake
The caped crusader cake
The chocolate and vanilla cake
The highly decorative Dollie inspired cake
The princess cake
The diet cake
The Ghost Buster cake
The Veil cake

Now these ensembles are probably not what most brides will be thinking about when they are choosing their wedding dresses, and I can’t really see them working down your local high street either. They are how ever a great accolade to Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garcon who really let their imaginations run wild! With collections like these I always love looking at them and trying to find out the inspiration and thoughts behind them. Which makes me think that the fine line between art and fashion is becoming thinner and thinner.

The Olympic Kit

So we all know that Stella McCartney has designed the Olympic kits, I have been dying to see what they look like, just like you i’m sure, overall the designs are subtle with their use of the Union Jack Flag and the red, white and blue colours. Each outfit is different but all have a uniform look so you known what team the person wearing them is for. Well done Stella and go team UK!

Escapism

Each Sunday we will share with you a photo that we have taken from our travels to far flung places around the world. They can be anything from a nice “scene”, as our mums would say, to a good slap up meal. We will include our memories for you all to enjoy, in the hope to calm, and maybe even inspire you, before Monday morning comes knocking on your door. If you have any you would like to share, either tweet us @fashionmould or email fashionmould@gmail.com.

Inspiration From Pakistan

Colourful, Bright, Bold, Exciting and Original, you would be forgiven for thinking that we are talking about Spring Summers new collections, but were actually talking about Trucks from Pakistan! There a sense of pride for their owners who spend a lot of time driving, no 9-5 for them, they eat, sleep and to a certain a extent live in them! The more detailed and more extravagant the decoration, inside and out, is a sign of wealth and a wooing technique to attract the ladies. Check them out!

The New Florals

Two days into Spring and the excitement is already sweeping over the UK, with people donning shorts, sandals and much to our dismay going topless (men only of course). Instead of bearing all let your inner beauty flower with these stunning blossom prints!

Graffiti Hotel!?!

J’adore J’adore J’adore ! This room by graffiti artist Tilt for the Au Vieux Panier Hotel in France, a luxury hotel who asked 6 different artist to create a room, Tilt’s room is by far our favorite. We love the colours and how he has left half of the room white, almost like dead space. The finishing touch for us is how everything, including half of the bed, windows, curtains and chair have been covered in graffiti. Very cool….. Tilt do you want to graffiti my room????=D
